Jayne and Brett’s first date nearly didn’t happen when Brett’s car broke down the day before they were scheduled to meet. To Jayne’s surprise, Brett called a few weeks later when his car had been repaired to organise another date, “it sounded like a made-up excuse to me, but luckily I was wrong”, Jayne recalled.
The pair were engaged in August of 2013, and married one year later in the Bell City marquee – “we just knew Bell City was the perfect venue for us. We especially loved the convenience of being able to have the wedding ceremony, reception, photography and accommodation all in the one place”, the couple explained of their choice.
The inspiration for Jayne and Brett’s wedding day was fun and relaxed, “we always had an image of our wedding being one big party, we just wanted to be able to enjoy a stress-free day with family and friends”, said Brett.
The big day finally arrived. Imagine the Bell City Marquee, lit with natural light and chandeliers, and 150 of Jayne and Brett’s closest friends and family seated and waiting. Much time had passed and Jayne was yet to arrive, eagerly waiting for his bride-to-be, Brett calmed his nerves by walking around chatting to all of their guests. Jayne had a good reason for running late; one that was all too-familiar for the couple, “one of our wedding cars broke down on the way to the ceremony – it felt like karma for Brett from our first date mishap,” Jayne laughed.
Guests enjoyed pre dinner drinks and canapés while Jayne and Brett made use of the Bell City grounds for their wedding photography and then greeted their guests in the Bell City ballroom, for the first time as husband and wife. The ballroom was effortlessly styled with tea light candles, an abundance of fresh flowers, satin ceiling draping and a splash of fun – with their photobooth.
Jayne and Brett’s personalised wedding menu consisted of fish croquettes, 20-day aged porterhouse medallion, saffron poached apple tart and Belgian chocolate mousse with sour cherry jelly – “all of our guests raved about the food, and I am so thankful that the Chef added chocolate mousse to the menu just for me”, said Brett.
After saying goodbye and thank you to their family and friends, Jayne and Brett settled in to their executive suite at Rydges Bell City. “We could not recommend Bell City enough; Stephanie and the team were amazing! They really do take the stress out of your wedding day” said Jayne.
What was one moment from your wedding day that will last with you forever?
Jayne: “The moment I turned the corner and walked into the Bell City marquee and saw Brett waiting for me. The look he gave me, it gave me goosebumps.”
Brett: “I always knew Jayne would look amazing on our wedding day, but when I saw her walk down the aisle, she took my breath away.”
What advice would you give future brides?
Jayne: “Relax and have fun, you don’t want to ruin the day by being stressed. All you have to remember is to stop and take a breath, look around and enjoy the moment.”
Jayne and Brett’s wedding day came with lots of surprises – from a broken down car, to a sweet serenade. This beautiful couple were engaged in August of 2013, and married one year later in the Bell City Marquee.
