A surprise announcement from the pilot on a flight to Sydney for Miss Bianca in seat 6B was the romantic introduction for Giancarlo’s romantic proposal, “I said yes right away, and everyone on the plane cheered. It was the most wonderful proposal”, Bianca explains.
Bianca and Giancarlo first locked eyes at a mutual friends birthday party, “he was tall, dark and handsome... what wasn’t there to like?”, Bianca laughs. Too nervous to exchange phone numbers, the couple were obviously infatuated “after the party a mutual friend told us that we had both asked for each other’s phone numbers – it was fate”, the couple reminisce.
After Giancarlo’s romantic proposal at 37,000 feet, the newly engaged couple couldn’t wait to start planning their dream wedding. While attending a Melbourne bridal exhibition, the couple came across Bell City’s stand, “we couldn’t wait to check out the Bell City Ballroom, so we popped in on our way home. The space was beautiful, everything we wanted. Plus having the onsite Mantra Hotel accommodation for our interstate guests was fantastic, and it was in such close proximity to our church. Everything just fell in to place.”
Both coming from Italian families, Bianca and Giancarlo wanted their day to be a true reflection of their personalities and cultural backgrounds, “we incorporated an Italian tradition for good luck where our family and friends wrapped us in streamers during our reception and we had a delicious tower of Italian chocolate canola’s as our wedding cake, plusour bonbonniere was a Nutella cookbook. Who doesn’t like Nutella?!”
The big day finally arrived; Saturday 14th November 2014, “I was a nervous wreck as each family member arrived to see me the morning of our wedding, but my emotions settled when I walked through the church doors and saw Giancarlo”, Bianca explains. After a beautiful ceremony at St Patrick’s Cathedral, newlyweds Bianca and Giancarlo entered the Bell City Ballroom to greet their close friends and family for the first time as husband and wife.
Family and friends were served alternating entrees of baked lamb cutlets and crab and prawn seafood cocktail. Guests enjoyed a main of either an Asian inspired twice-cooked pork belly, or an eye filled served with smoked potato mash and brocollini. Saving the best for last, Bianca and Giancarlo’s guests enjoyed alternating white chocolate and Bailey’s charlotte and steamed chocolate and hazelnut puddings.
“Our wedding reception was wonderful. Everyone had a ball. The food was delicious; the staff were attentive and Stephanie was extra helpful attending to our last-minute special requests throughout the night,” the couple remembers.
After an unforgettable honeymoon in the United States, Bianca and Giancarlo reflect on their wedding planning process and give advice to future brides and grooms; “be clear on the things that matter to you and your partner. It’s your day and it can be easy to fall into the trap of keeping everyone else happy. Remember to stop and reflect along the way, to make sure your day is as perfect as it should be.”
